To walk through it, or get off trail? Our correspondents struggle with injuries, changes in plan, and aches and pains. What’s the best way to take care of yourself on the trail?
In this podcast we discuss the hard business of thru-hiking, and the wear and tear on our bodies as a result. Injuries are incredibly common. According to a survey by distancehiking.com, 60% of thru-hikers report having been injured on trail. Although, if they are defining an injury as: “an injury, or more than a few days of aches and pains”, this rate seems a little low.
Tune in to see how our correspondents are doing and how they are dealing with their setbacks.

June 26, 2015 at 1:36 pmWrap yourselves in rolls and rolls of KT Tape! I can’t even begin to count how many hikes KT Tape has saved. It works on ALL weak/tender/sore/tired muscles and joints. It’s easy to apply and lasts a really long time (several days, anyway). Seriously….get some, now…walk around in town on flat ground while you take a zero and recuperate (do laundry, eat pizza and ice-cream, drink beer) and see if it doesn’t just work a miracle.

July 14, 2015 at 12:14 pmI loved the last few minutes of the podcast. As a Phoenix resident, the description of summer storms in the valley was excellent. Thanks.

September 25, 2015 at 1:54 pmIt’s one of those late September days here in Michigan when the sky is so blue it makes my heart ache… and I’m “stuck in a meeting in a windowless room….isn’t that just another kind of pain?” Yes. Yes, it is. I just found the podcast this week and LOVE IT. Thank you for sharing your people and stories. Look forward to many more.
